The concept behind Army Community Day is that for one day the United States Army Recruiting Command would stop normal operations and provide community service to our respected areas. With a general misconception that the Army is only “warfighters” we need to show the People again who we are and what we stand for. We support and defend everyone in our country big and small, old and young, every ethnic background from far east coast to the west, and even in quite a bit of other countries around the world.
The part most have forgotten was the SUPPORT piece and still hold on to the DEFEND. On May 1st, 2015 we did exactly that. There were almost 5000 recruiters nationwide that completed community service in their local communities. Each project was different in size and scope and were left to the lower levels of the command to identify the ones they wanted to do. On social media we shared photos, videos, and articles on all the platforms as well tagged our posts with #recruiterscare. This being our first event ever of this magnitude reached nearly 70,000 and engagements of nearly 4,000 on social media that day.
